Welcome to Myotherapy Center of Oklahoma
I am Barbara Boyer, owner and operator of Myotherapy Center for 21 years in Purcell, Oklahoma. Prior to moving to Oklahoma I owned and operated Basic Bodyworks for 7 years in Crete, Nebraska. I have built my massage business with a loyal following and have maintained a minimum of 3 month waiting list for several years. Over the last ten years I have noticed an increase in our public demand for therapy. In the small town of Purcell we have 3 massage therapists and we are all booked weeks and months ahead. With the automation of many jobs I feel there is a need for the trade schools to offer more career opportunities. I feel the need to open a school where I can pass on my knowledge accumulated from countless hours of continuing education classes and 28 years of clinical experience. I would like to share my experience with people who have the desire to offer a much needed service to help others while creating a successful business in the health field. I have the clientele and resources to support this undertaking. I have been given an opportunity to work with incredible Physicians, Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians who will serve as instructors for a portion of the course work. It is our desire to provide you with a complete and thorough education that will enable you to pursue your dream of becoming a valued member of the Massage Therapy community.
Sincerely,
Barbara R. Boyer, LMT

"Barb and Kevin are awesome. As an older student making a career change I was apprehensive about returning to school. Barb and Kevin have made the process seamless. Kevin and Barb are a wealth of knowledge they are more than willing to share. Their passion comes through in everything they do. The first day of class we were hands on learning actual massage techniques. I cannot be more thrilled that I chose Myotherapy Center of Oklahoma to pursue a new career in massage therapy."

"Barb does incredible work and as a professional bull rider I’ve got a lot for her to work on, she not only helps me feel better the day of seeing her but also looks at the big picture of keeping a sore/broken body able to perform to what it needs for riding bulls"

According to the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of massage therapists is projected to grow 22 percent from the 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Continued growth in the demand for massage services will lead to new opening for massage therapists.
Massage therapists treat clients by using touch to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body. Through the power of their touch, massage therapists relieve chronic pain, which helps to rehabilitate injuries, improve blood circulation, relieve stress, promote relaxation, and aid in the overall wellness of the client.
Today massage therapist work in spas, wellness centers, medical and chiropractic facilities, offices, fitness centers, and even cruise ships and resorts. There is a growing trend to see clients in the privacy of either the client or therapist’s home. Another option that has gained popularity recently is fully self-contained mobile massage units that cater to the client at their home or place of business. As you can see it can be a very versatile and you can choose where you want to work.
